Global Arts is more than just an arts education program, it’s a wraparound model that recognizes the vital role families play in a child’s growth. By supporting the whole family we create a stronger foundation for our students to thrive. When families feel connected, resourced, and empowered, students show up more engaged, confident, and ready to learn. This holistic approach ensures that the impact of Global Arts extends beyond the classroom, nurturing not just individual students, but the entire community around them.

Raíces y Ecos del Corazón is a parent-led community within Global Arts and the Pico Union neighborhood, dedicated to honoring and celebrating cultural roots, memories, and stories. Through reading and writing, the program amplifies a shared history that reflects both the immigrant experience and the universal humanity that connects us all.

Parents come together in book clubs and writing workshops where they explore literature, create and share poetry, and reflect on their personal journeys. These gatherings provide meaningful opportunities for growth, fostering dialogue, creativity, and mutual support within the community.

Through this work, Raíces y Ecos del Corazón weaves a collective tapestry that carries the echoes of ancestral roots and lived experiences, creating a lasting legacy for future generations. The program not only preserves cultural memory but also builds bridges of understanding, resilience, and love—connections that continue to strengthen and flourish over time.

In partnership with our families, we also design workshops that respond directly to their lived needs. These include topics such as mental health, financial literacy, parenting, and navigating community systems. Each workshop is shaped by the priorities families share with us, and we also work to connect parents with trusted local resources to help fill gaps. This practical support complements the creative and cultural work, strengthening both individual well-being and the fabric of the community.
