Coomunity Coordinator & Program Assistant

Blake Trejo is a first-generation Guatemalan immigrant dedicated to supporting underserved communities through arts education. They earned a degree in English and a minor in Education from UC Berkeley and have recently returned to Los Angeles, where they were raised. Blake was introduced to music at age 10 through the Los Angeles Philharmonic’s Youth Orchestra, YOLA @ HOLA, and subsequently played the French horn for over a decade under the mentorship of Jackie and Emily. After seeing the impact music made on their life, Blake developed a deep passion for making arts education accessible to communities of color. 

Blake’s commitment to community service began with their role as a scholar-in-residence at YOLA @ HOLA. In addition to their work in music, Blake is dedicated to fostering safe and inclusive environments in higher education for immigrant and LGBTQ+ communities. While studying at Berkeley, Blake served as an Administrative Assistant at the Gender Equity Resource Center, where they collaborated with various student organizations to develop safe spaces and events for minority students.

Now back in Los Angeles, Blake is enthusiastic about advancing their advocacy work and building connections through Global Arts.

Outside of work, Blake enjoys spending time with family, cooking, and cuddling with their pets Fito and Rico.
