About Global Arts
Global Arts unlocks opportunities for underserved youth through high-quality music education, leadership development, and a nurturing, community-centered network of support.
Founded in 2019 by music educators Emily Kubitskey and Jackie DesRosier, Global Arts was inspired by El Sistema, the internationally recognized movement that has used music to strengthen communities and create opportunities for young people in Venezuela for over 50 years. After more than a decade of teaching in schools and music programs, our founders recognized the need for a program that combines artistic excellence with meaningful community building.
Today, Global Arts provides no-cost, year-round music education for youth in grades 3-12 in the Pico Union area of Los Angeles. Through instrumental instruction, ensemble participation, performances, and enrichment opportunities, students develop musical skills while building confidence, leadership, teamwork, and a sense of belonging. In 2025, Global Arts expanded into its first dedicated facility in Pico Union while continuing its long-standing partnership with the Castellanos Campus of Camino Nuevo Charter Academy.
Beyond the Classroom
Our work extends beyond music instruction. Students participate in performances, field trips, workshops with professional artists, and other cultural experiences that connect them to Los Angeles’ vibrant arts community.
Community is central to everything we do. Through collaborative music-making and shared experiences, young people develop not only as musicians but also as engaged community members prepared to contribute positively to the world around them. Families are also an essential part of the Global Arts experience. We view them as partners in the success of our programs and serve them through family-oriented events, workshops, community-building activities, and a parent committee.
